Charlie gave us a bit of a scare the other night...I was two hours away from going in for my 2nd of 4 nights of work and Charlie decided cleaning up his toys was not on his agenda. He ran into his room and stood on his bed. I demanded that he get down and he dove onto his pillow to pretend he was sleeping. The only problem is that the headboard of his bed is a bookcase and rather than hitting his pillow, he landed on the part of his bed where the bookcase meets the bed...the sound was horrendous. He got up stunned and then then started screaming.
Long story short, we went to the ER after calling work to tell them I'd be in late. They got us in quick because of "possible head injury". After looking in his ears and nose for signs of CSF (there was none thank goodness) they performed neuro tests...he passed them all and was just anxious to get home. We decided to pass on the CT scan and chose to watch him through the night (sedation and a cold and an asthmatic kid don't mix well). So they glued his forehead (less scarring than stitches) and said his nose is probably broken but there's nothing they would do for it anyway...and we were on our way. We got home at 9pm, he ate PB and Jelly sandwich and went to bed, I went to work. Alex woke him up twice to check on him, he acted appropriately and was back to his old self the next day. Thank goodness for hard heads!
